FIT | Film Industry Training
S3 Entertainment Group, Michigan’s leading film production company has created FIT Film Industry Training program in order to train Michigan residents to be qualified film crew members here in Michigan. All of the sessions will be held at FIT Film Industry Training Studio facility, located at 1100 Woodward Heights in Ferndale.

The FIT program consists of eight courses paired with related internships. Each course is taught over 40 hours during a two week period, with classes held from 5:30pm to 9:30pm Monday through Thursday, plus an 8 hour class on Saturday. Classes are held at the FIT Studio Classroom located in Ferndale. Here you’ll have hands-on access to the largest inventory of film production equipment in the State of Michigan.
General Film Industry Training Overview
Next Class: September 13 – September 23, 2010
This class is designed as an in-depth exploration of potential employment opportunities in the Feature Film, Television, Commercial, and Digital Media fields.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday. Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
Intro to the Film Art Department
Next Class: September 27 – October 9, 2010
This class will teach each students the basic skill sets necessary to work in some of the more specialized service jobs in the film and television production business.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), weeks 1 and 2, and all day Saturday, week 2 (8:00am-4:00 pm).
Film Wardrobe & Costuming
Next Class: October 25 – November 4, 2010
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday. Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
Intro to Script Supervising/Continuity
Next Class: October 11 – October 23, 2010
This intensive course is designed to give students a complete overview of the script supervisor’s role in film and television, from pre-production through production.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm). Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm).
Intro to Film Production Accounting
Next Class: November 8 – November 18, 2010
This class will teach students with a good working knowledge and experience in bookkeeping and accounting how to apply those skills to production accounting.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm). Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
Grip/Electrician/Generator Operator Course
Next Class: October 11 – October 21, 2010
This class is designed to teach each student the basic skill sets necessary to work in an entry-level position in the Grip or Electric Departments and to become a certified Generator Operator on Feature Films, Television, and Commercial Productions.
Class runs Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm). Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
Intro to Special FX
Next Class: December 6 – December 16, 2010
This class is designed to teach each student the basic skill sets necessary to work in an entry-level, non-union position in the Special FX Departments of Films, Television, and Commercial Productions.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm). Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
Intro to the Camera Department
Next Class: November 8 – November 18, 2010
This class will teach students the basics about the various camera systems — film and digital — and the workflows associated with each.
Class will run Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm), and all day Saturday (8am-4pm). Week 2, Monday through Thursday (5:30-9:30pm).
